The Rabobank Wall, or Rabo Wall for short, is a life-sized interactive wall designed to attract young IT talent to Rabobank’s DevOps department. This installation merges a contemporary wooden panel with illustrations, animations, and audio using projection mapping with projectors. It’s controlled through touch interaction with conductive ink. The ink forms a circuit to the computer, and your body provides the current, similar to touchscreens.<\/h5>\n

Rabobank<\/a> was in search of a unique way to attract and inform young IT professionals about their DevOps job vacancies. A mere poster or video wouldn’t suffice; it had to be something grand. And that’s precisely what we delivered, both literally and figuratively.<\/p>\n

This project involved video and animations, high-quality audio, a physical component, and job information. But it also included humour tailored to the target audience, surprising effects, intriguing technology, a modern eyecatcher, and above all, interactivity. All of these elements came together in one of our most remarkable projects: The Rabo Wall.<\/p>\n

We provided complete support in terms of the creative concept and idea development. The concept was formulated based on interviews, ensuring the wall was created by developers, for developers. We mapped out the desires and the key messages to be conveyed to visitors. We collaborated on the content that should be displayed on the wall and the style that suited Rabobank.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Magic..!<\/h4>\n

The magic of The Wall<\/a> lies in the conductive ink \u2013 a pitch-black substance that can conduct electrical current. By touching the paintings with your hand, an electrical signal travels through the ink to a wire and then to the computer. This functions similarly to the touchscreen of a smartphone. Projectors positioned above the wall allowed the illustrations to be animated and interactive through projection mapping. Touching the illustrations triggered animations and audio to play, bringing the wall to life.<\/p>\n

Printing the visual design onto a wooden panel made it aesthetically pleasing and modern, capturing attention without being overly flashy. Coupled with beautiful designs, animation, visuals, and engaging sound effects, it became an incredibly captivating object that evoked curiosity and wonder.<\/p>\n

No doubt, this installation drew attention at events and conferences, with everyone eager to manipulate and experience the magic firsthand. The sense of wonder the wall instilled encouraged visitors to pause, experiment, and thus unconsciously absorb all the information presented.<\/p>\n

The objective of this project?<\/h4>\n

Recruitment of new developers for Rabobank’s DevOps department.<\/p>\n

Check. Most certainly achieved.<\/p>\n

Interaction levels at events where The Rabo Wall<\/a> was deployed surpassed all expectations. Visitors were intrigued and enthralled by the wall, prompting nearly everyone to take a closer look.<\/p>\n

What’s the secret behind this success?<\/h4>\n

This project amalgamates various technologies to create an impressive end product. The sheer grandeur of a 4 by 2.4-meter wall, the aesthetic and calming appeal of natural wood, the captivating illustrations, animations, and audio masterfully projected onto the wall via projection mapping. And of course, the star of the show \u2013 conductive ink \u2013 which transforms something seemingly simple into a remarkable technical installation.<\/p>\n

Wonderment is one of the most potent effects a project or campaign can elicit. It appeals to the childlike curiosity within us, as we encounter something we’ve never seen before and don’t immediately comprehend.
